Burns Night

Date: 27th Jan 2017 @ 12:31pm

At the beginning of the week we learnt about the Scottish poet Robert Burns. We looked at the poems that he had written and sang his famous Auld Lang Syne, which he wrote in 1788!

We learnt about Burn's Night and how he is celebrated every year in Scotland on the anniversary of his birthday by an evening of haggis, neeps and tatties; dancing; and celebrations! We looked at traditional scottish dress and some of the children chose to design their own tartan.

On Wednesday, the children wrote about some of the facts that they had learnt in their Big Write books, and while they wrote we listened to traditional scottish bagpipe music!
