Wonderful first few weeks!

Date: 23rd Sep 2018 @ 10:38am

The Owl Class have had a wonderful start to the new term. All of the children have settled in really well and have enjoyed playing with their new friends in our classroom. The first three weeks have flown by!

We spent the first week settling in and getting to know our new friends. We learnt about the school rules and we all suggested rules for our class and made a class charter. We signed our promise to follow these rules with a handprint and they are displayed on our wall.

In RE we have shared stories of good news and learnt that the Bible is a special book to Christians. We have learn the story of the Good Samaritan and acted it out in our play. We have also made a class canvas based on Genesis three and we have proudly displayed it in our Reflection area.

We have looked at the book Wilfred Gordon McDonald Partridge and we have thought about what a memory is, and explored our own memories.

The Reception children are thoroughly enjoying learning their phonics and we have already been introduced to the sounds m,a,s,d,t,i,n,p and g! Year One children are joining groups with the other KS1 children so that they can learn sounds relevant to where they are in their reading.

We have also started our Maths and will be learning a number a week in great depth. We have began with Number One and have learnt the value of one, the different ways that one can be recorded and have learnt to recognise shapes with one side.

Miss Bourne and I have so many fun activities planned, and we hope that your children have a fantastic time learning with us!

Best wishes,

Mrs Tomlinson and Miss Bourne
