Chinese New Year! Kung Hei Fat Choy!

Date: 27th Jan 2017 @ 12:43pm

We have been learning about Chinese New Year this week! We have heard the story of how the Jade Emporer chose 12 animals to represent the 12 years of the zodiac by setting them a race! We learnt how this year is the year of the rooster and we looked at the animals that represent the different years that we are born in. We have learnt about the way that Chinese New Year is celebrated by Chinese people all over the world with lanterns, dragons, music and fireworks!

We have been practising saying our chinese numbers up to 10 in maths, as well as making chinese lanterns and writing our names in chinese! Some of the children used our class World Atlas and found the flag of China and then made their own! Finally we have been learning a Kung Hei Fat Choy song which the children have really enjoyed too.
