Mummy and Sarcophagi designs

Lesson: Art and design

Class: Lower Key Stage 2: 'The Hedgehogs' Year: 2013 - 2014

We researched Ancient Egyptian mummies and sarcophagi's this week and discovered that not only were people mummified but cats, dogs and jackals were too!

Following the design process, we created a mummy out of clay and then covered it with modroc.  We then covered this with plastic and creating the sarcophagi around it in two halves for the perfect fit. After we had completed this we researched Ancient Egyptian designs and created our own interpretation to suit our mummy.

Enjoy looking at the photos of the process and some of our finished products!
